One month of Symonowicz-Mortenson investigation: what we know so far
On July 8, 2020, Edwin Symonowicz won a trial against Frank Mortenson.
The trial consisted in the fact that Edwin Symonowicz claimed that Frank Mortenson repeatedly tried to forge his (-Edwin’s) identity with the help of representatives of the US population databases and register him as a US citizen, and later create a fake U.S. Social Security account in his name and use this account for fraudulent purposes. As evidence, Edwin presented some SMS correspondence and recordings of calls, but this is still known only from his words: no evidence presented in court is publicly available.
On July 8, Frank Mortenson was convicted under 18 U.S. Code § 1001 — “Statements or entries generally” in the Northern Fairfield County District Probate Court, but no conviction was issued.
On the night of July 7–8, Frank Mortenson received a call from the Social Security Administration warning him of his violations. The next day, July 9, Frank Mortenson received a lawsuit by email. However, Frank Mortenson said that these reports of the ongoing trial cannot be classified as official and legally binding, and therefore stated that the trial was held illegally and the results of the trial should be canceled. Also, Mortenson claimed that there were no any Social Security violations with his participation, and that all this is Symonowicz’s fiction. With this evidence, on July 10, he filed an appeal.
The appeal was dealt with by the Connecticut State Court of Appeals. On July 14, just four days after the appeal, the judicial commission already stated that Symonowicz’s victory in the Symonowicz-Mortenson court may be illegal. However, this did not mean any conclusion. The next day, judges in the Northern Fairfield County District Probate Court flatly rejected this.
For all the time, neither Symonowicz nor Mortenson had attorneys in court and it significantly complicates the current appeal process. However, after a considerable time, on August 3, the famous pianist Nijole Cimieliene said that she is ready to provide good attorneys from Connecticut specifically for Symonowicz. This largely angered Mortenson, and Symonowicz thanked Cimieliene the next day and said she is “a great human”.
For all the time, despite all the efforts of Mortenson, Symonowicz refused from having any straight contacts with him. In the end, on August 2, it became known that Symonowicz and Mortenson will be presenting their arguments in court for the first time on August 17 online.
At this time, the situation is heating up. Although it has not yet reached the peak, but the relationship is getting hotter every day, not only between the singers, but also between their fans.
